First reluctant steps…

January 22nd, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I took my first reluctant steps into the outdoors this winter to go skating
on the canal with my little sister. It’s not so bad, really. Once you get
past the frostbite and the runny nose and the stiffening fingers, numbness
sets in and it’s not such a big deal anymore.

I managed to have a good time, actually, [...]

Girl of the Moment

January 20th, 2001 · No Comments · Observations

I’m working on doing up a design for this page, something a bit more evolved than the “red on black” which I tend to default to in the late evening when my creativity is waning.
I think what would really spruce up the site is women in bikinis! It works for Romp! It works for Eruptor!  [...]

Princess Mononoke

January 19th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I bought Princess Mononoke this evening. I thought it was a pretty awesome
little film, even if most of it went over my head the first time I watched
it. I think I was tired that evening, or preoccupied. I find if I go see
experimental japanese animations when I’m tired I don’t always manage to
follow which protoplasmic [...]

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

January 18th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Have I gone on and on about how much I loved
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
yet? I’m completely and utterly in love with Ang Lee’s little Wudan universe,
to the point where, seeing it a second time this evening, I’ve managed to
completely bliss myself out.

Happy day.

Sure, it may not have been Schindler’s list… but I hope it wins [...]

Recurring dream

January 18th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I’ve had a number of recurring dreams lately, and one in particular keeps
coming back to tease me with some kind of convoluted puzzle meaning.

There’s this girl who I go visit who lives on the upper balcony of a giant
brass and stained-glass cathedral which has been converted into an apartment
building. Everything, -everything- is extremely ornate, right [...]

Found a battery

January 15th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I found an AAA battery in the back of my dresser drawer this evening that I
promptly transplanted into my near-death Handspring. Wohoo! For a moment
there I thought I’d almost have to remember my friends phone numbers with my
brain! Ha! Waste precious neurons on seven-digit strings of randomly assigned
numerals? No thanks.

Oh, and a girl waiting for [...]

Couldn’t write a mail

January 15th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Yesterday I couldn’t manage to eke out a single e-mail all day, despite the
fact that I had a lot to say and a bunch of people I really had to write to.
Today I managed to get a little better caught up, but I’m still looking back
at yesteday and wondering about my sudden bout of writer’s [...]

PlayStation 2

January 14th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I got a chance last night to play the Playstation 2, I should mention. I was
pretty excited to hear it was coming, but to be honest it was a bit of a
letdown when I finally played it. I still want one, but as yet the games
aren’t very exciting (I played Tekken Tag Tournament) and they [...]

Revelation

January 14th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Never, -ever-, eat a Shwarma before bed.

I woke up today in a fog of garlic, the rancid taste of flaming-hot pickled
beets crawling up my throat.

I drank about a quart of lemonade and brushed my teeth 6 or 7 times before I
managed to overpower last evening’s late-night snack.

Speaking of last evening: It was weird. I saw [...]

19th Hour

January 12th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

It’s my 19th hour at work, and I’m experiencing a mixture of mental
overstimulation and physical exhaustion. It’s exciting, in an unpleasant way.
I’m not likely to ever volunteer to do this sort of thing again. 2 out of
three projects complete, one left.
