I’ve arrived safely in Missasauga after a plane flight out to the Toronto
suburb where I’ll be living for the next three weeks.
The architecture of this place is bizarre. There are billions of cloned
factory-pressed homes arranged around symmetrical curvy streets, all linked
to Strip-mall framed main streets that approximate a giant homogenous grid.
I’ve settled into my room, where the glow from my Mac laptop illuminates the
posters I went out this evening to buy from one of the nearby strip-malls. It
could have been any strip-mall for it all matters, they’re all exactly
identical.
I so -love- being in the thick of things back in Ottawa, with my apartment
downtown. It’s an amazingly well-designed urban core, even if it has glaring
flaws. I’m developing a morbid fascination in the structure of mega-suburbs.
It’s shocking to me that I need a car to get to the nearest bus stop.
Anyhow, I’ll get out and take some pictures this weekend. I love pictures!
