New office digs

March 15th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

We’re all moved into our new office in Utah and we’re getting settled in.
Makes our Ottawa office look like a shed. ;)

Troy and I still, every morning as we pull out of our hotel driveway, make
this ooooh-ahhh-ing sound and stare off into the mountain sunrise.

I checked out the cover of Computer Graphics World, and it looks like some of
our competition are scanning and reconstructing dinosaurs. The patch job they
did on the triceratops’ skull was nothing short of utterly terrible. The guys
I’m teaching, after only two weeks, could have put that dinosaur model
together in a day and wouldn’t have had the horrible seams that the
Smithsonian team left behind. We rock.

This weekend is approaching quickly. I’m hanging out with our hotel manager
this evening and watching Tron while I do laundry, and then Friday evening
we’re heading down to a spot called “Moab” where the mountains are supposedly
even cooler than they are here.

We’ve also been invited to go out and shoot at things with guns, which seems
to be a pretty popular passtime around these parts. I’m almost tempted, just
because I think it would be a cultural experience. Not something I’m really
thrilled about though.

Oh, and I’ve picked up the accent. I was talking to a friend of mine in
Winnipeg and she started laughing at me. I’m doin’ a lot of abbreviatin’. And
I’m sayin’ owt instead of out. *sigh* Gotta get back to Canada soon. ;)
