Schooling Behavior

August 26th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

It’s -so- cool watching fish that school. I knew when I was buying my fish
that I wanted enough of them to form a school… usually 4 or 5 will do. It’s
such a strange and wonderful behavioral mechanism. It’s like they’re all
tapping into some kind of positional collective conciousness, they all move
like one organism. Then, if [...]

Fishies (Part Deux)

August 26th, 2001 · No Comments · Observations

So I’m just introducing some Guppies and Neons Tetras into my tank. The
water’s been conditioned, I bought a black-light and some nitrobacter fluid,
and they’re swimming happily in thier plastic bags getting ready to swim free
in my massive tank.
I have three guppies, one male and two females (The “family starter” set that
will breed ad infinitum). I [...]

Portfolio

August 22nd, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

It’s really frustrating to me to not be able to put any of the wicked cool
projects I’ve worked on in the past 9 months or so at work on my website for
you to see. I’m going to see what I can do about that. Maybe some of it is
public enough now (having shown it to [...]

Fishies

August 22nd, 2001 · No Comments · Observations

I was at an aquarium supply place this afternoon, and I had too much money in my pocket, so I bought the stand that my waterless aquarium in the corner of my apartment has been longing for the past two years.
I used to be -hardcore- into fishes. I had three aquariums set up with my [...]

Radio Free Wasteland

August 21st, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, a couple of weekends ago I spent a while on the set of a little movie
being made: “Radio Free Wasteland”. I play the action hero in the movie, the
very charming post-apocalyptic radio personality Cory Frost, who together
with his sidekick Ari, battle mutants in a bomb shelter to assure the
survival of the human spirit.

It was [...]

Cable call

August 20th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

A lady called today from the cable company looking to offer me an
introductory cable package. I told her I wasn’t really interested (politely,
I used to answer calls in a support center back in college) and she
asked “Why not?”.

“Well, I dunno…” I told her, “maybe because I don’t own a TV?”. It was
kinda snarky, but I [...]

Rarrr!

August 20th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Made this in my spare time one Saturday afternoon. He’s kinda neat. I bet
he’ll turn up on 40 or 50 geocities pages in the next couple of days.

I’d be more proud of him, but I faintly remember seeing something similar on
ReBoot a couple of years ago. Been Done. The two words I hate most.

I’m [...]

[Review] Cast Away Special Edition DVD

August 20th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I bought Castaway for my parents over the weekend. It was in a Bin of DVD’s
in a sidewalk sale outside the most incredible little video rental place in
Ottawa. (Elgin Street Video Station!)

So the sign says DVD – $15, so I pull out the cash and reach out to the video
store guy (who recognises me by [...]

Up, down, up, down, up, down…

August 20th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

There are so many metaphors that I could use to describe the status of my
server. I’ll avoid mentioning any and allow you all to come up with something
exciting all on your own.

This time, like all the times previous to it, I have no idea how long things
will stay up. I have no idea, in fact, [...]
