LunarBison

November 11th, 2001 · No Comments · Drawing, Observations

One of the other quick sketches I made in my book at the ROM (apart from some mideval Chinese sculptures) was this one of a bison. I thought he was kinda neat. So I’m sharing.

I’ve eaten bison before. I always feel guilty when I see them. They have very human faces. Big open eyes that [...]

What I did this weekend.

November 11th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I saw The Thinker, by Auguste Rodin, at the Royal Ontario Museum. For such a
famous peice of artwork, you’d all be surprised how much abuse he takes in a
day. Over the 20 minutes or so I had to sit down and observe him (this marker
sketch was made in the last two or three minutes, and [...]

All together now.

November 11th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Just a moment ago the adults upstairs, all at the same moment, either gasped,
or let out a “WHOOOP!” after a long series of closely-spaced thumping and
directly preceeding an immense crashing noise.

Heh. *rolls eyes*

Okay, now I’m eavesdropping. Gotta get some music on. Moby!

Stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp BOOM!

November 11th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Usually the four litle boys upstairs are doing their little boy thing, stomp
stomp stomp stomp stomp… thunk, stomp stomp stomp… It’s impressive that
they can make quite as much noise as they do. I don’t find it very irritating
(until the yelling and crying starts) and I can pretty much sleep through a
hurricane in the morning, so [...]

Neat online comic

November 8th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I read a really neat online comic today, or should I say “a peice of
seqential art”. I don’t want to be all high and mighty about the internet or
any more than I usually am, but I think through the internet and the expanded
readership possibilities and the easy publish-it-yourself mantra I’m hearing
everywhere, a lot of artists [...]

WARNING! WARNING! CHICKEN STRIPS ALERT!

November 7th, 2001 · No Comments · Observations

I got busted today cooking chicken strips. My poor landlord went into a panic after my fire alarm went off and came rushing down to see if I was alright.
Apparently it used to go off on them all the time, too. It’s very sensitive. Which I suppose is a good thing. Took me [...]

I, Robot.

November 6th, 2001 · No Comments · Observations

This evening I got an ICQ note from a friend saying:
you talk in binary. robot:)
It’s almost surreal. I like it. I wasn’t even saying anything that I thought was computery.
Which reminds me, if you haven’t seen it yet, check out the Robot Bastard short film. “Robot! Your planet needs you!”. He’s not much of [...]

Alpha Centauri

November 5th, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I played Alpha Centauri for the first time last night, even though I’ve had
it in a stack of CDs for months (stolen from my friend Mark, who I really
ought to return it to at some point). The game is a blast. I don’t like it
quite as much as Civilizations, because some of the concepts are [...]

Count Zero

November 2nd, 2001 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I read a cool book on the bus the other day, Count Zero by William Gibson. It
struck me that it was similar in a lot of ways to Neal Stephenson’s Snow
Crash, and I wonder how much those two authors (who are often compared to
eachother) actually influence eachother. I wonder if the read eachother’s
work, or talk [...]
