So, I know that people read my site and actually care what my opinion is
about the movies I see, so I have to apologize for going to see lots of
movies that I didn’t bother writing up entries for. There are a lot of good
ones out there these days, including some I’ve worked on, and you’ll [...]

Lewis, The Robotic Photographer
July 30th, 2002 · No Comments · Observations, Photography
While at Siggraph, one of the interesting personalities I met was Lewis, the
Robotic Photographer, who drove around in little circles until he had just
the shot he wanted, and then snapped off a pic of me looking super cool.
What’s interesting about this robot is that he’s been given certain rules of
composition that he has to work [...]

The movie that should never have been made!
July 29th, 2002 · No Comments · Observations, Review
I got this quote off the WideScreen Museum page, about the history of lenses:
This one has an unusual and regrettable legacy. It should not have been made for countless reasons, specifically, John Wayne was not talented enough to pass himself off as a Mongol, the story line was dopey, and worst of all it is [...]

As seen on a Dr. Pepper bottle in the States
July 28th, 2002 · No Comments · Observations
I -love- warning messages. I suppose this is what happens when you live in a litigious society. Thank god for Canada.
I’m just imagining someone vigorously shaking a DrPepper bottle, unscrewing the bottle, and a shockwave of flavor tearing outwards, flipping cars and knocking down toolsheds.

Some things that are cool.

1) The problems CG people have had rendering hair and cloth and feathers and
fluids have made enormous inroads. Expect amazing things inside 4 years.
2) James Gosling can type at amazing speeds.
3) A swat team raided my friend’s campsite, thinking they were canadian
terrorists headed to Siggraph.
4) I’d write more, but I’m crazy busy. I promise [...]

Yeeeeehaw!
I’ll try to keep you all updated. I’m already privy to a number of news tidbits that I can’t divulge until they’re publicly released… but expect a 10-page rant about how evil a particular company that makes movies about intelligent toys is.
The Name Game
July 19th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized
So I did a search in google for my name, and LunarBovine didn’t show up.
Instead, there was a list of links about a mile long of old usenet posts,
softimage forum quotes about the dancing baby animation, credits on the CAP page (which I didn’t
know I had), Forestry Library Sites (My first page for
someone else!), a [...]

The only thing worse than being sick (with the flu!) is watching daytime
television. I’ve got
the morning off, and I figured I’d just crash on the couch in the sunlight
while I recuperated, but I had to turn the TV off. On the 180 channels I get
on digital cable, the only show vaguely entertaining was one where [...]

The guy who wrote the lyrics to Ode to Joy, Beethoven’s 9th symphony, is
named Friedrich Johann Chistoph Von Schiller. That’s two more middle
names than me. -And- it sounds regal as all heck. Jason Leslie Cobill
doesn’t sound quite as formidable. Maybe I’ll legally get my name changed to
something with a little more bearing!
How’s Jason Magnus Octavius [...]
