Why is the world so caught up in the affairs of my shoelaces? Any given day,
I’m likely to have an old lady tell me “Oh my, you’re going to trip and break
your neck!” or a trucker leaning out his window to tell me “Hey! Looks like
you gots a flat tire there, buddy! Pull over!” or a little boy
pointing “Mommy, mommy, why is that -BAD- man’s shoelaces untied?!?!?”.
I’m serious. They’re printing Jay’s Shoelace Lenth Advisories beside the
weather every day. I have -never- tripped over my shoelaces, including when
people have intentionally stepped on them in an attemp to “teach me a
lesson”. In fact, I rarely trip at all, with the exception of the odd loose
rock or hidden step.
I don’t get it. Why can’t I walk around with loose shoelaces without being
discriminated against?!?
