I saw the Musketeer finally this evening. Although I’d seen parts of it at
friend’s houses and what not, I never saw it all the way through.
I dunno, I won’t say it sucked, but it was hardly a super incredible film.
Big bad evil guy, young french guy who fights him, sidekick who blows things
up. Nothing you haven’t seen before. I was totally disappointed with the
fight on the ladders, too. Holy wirework. I thought Wu Ping did some of the
choreography or something.
There -was- one cool shot, the young french dude (Nathaniel!) is fighting his
way up a tower on ropes, and there’s -one- shot downwards in the rain that
really worked. The climbing was totally stupid looking… like when Batman
used to climb buildings with Robin on TV. But the arrangement of everything
in the shot, the rain, the tower, the dude, was pretty great.
It looked something like this. But, the smiley-face man should be a person,
and the ugly bricks should be an old tower, and the streaky things should be
rain.
