Really really beautiful

October 28th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

All night there have been big huge flakes of snow falling from low clouds,
blanketing the city. I have all the lights off in my apartment, and the glow
of the city reflecting through the clouds is bright enough to nearly read by.
Individual flakes pass by my window like a rain of pink embers from the sky.
I [...]

My little pet peeve

October 27th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, there’s a lot of people out there who keep blogs. Not like mine, in that
they just write little tidbits about things, but much more like Jen’s, where
they write everything out in crazy moment-by-moment evisceral detail.
Sometimes I’ll go snooping around (and it always feels like snooping,
regardless of the fact that it’s wantonly public) and read [...]

Taiko!

October 26th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, I just finished my first ever Taiko workshop and am now officially a
Taiko drummer, as evidenced by the beautiful blood-blisters on both hands.

Imagine this is me.

So, I got pretty crazy out there, whacked big sticks on a big drum,
shouted “HAI!” lots and had a fantastic time. I’d recommend the experience to
anyone. I’m [...]

Michael Moore’s Bowling for Columbine

October 24th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

During a breif break in my crazily busy day today, I went out to see (free,
thanks to Lynne!) Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore’s newest film. I’ve
always been a fan of his, and I enjoyed his TV series TV Nation immensely.

Go see it if you’re in a pensive, thinking mood. Some of what he does and
says [...]

My scary movie

October 23rd, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I saw the Ring on opening night, and it was a pretty scary movie. I think you
should go see it, if you’re into really weird and twisted things. I kept
getting pulled out of the film by funny little plot holes and technical
things that kindof bothered me, but for the most part it was [...]

Inflammatory Ecological Statements

October 20th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, I -really really- am interested in preserving the environment, and I -am-
a Greenpeacer, and I (sometimes) recycle and I reduce and re-use, and all
that good stuff. But more and more often I see things that I question in
environmentalist media, and I’m beginning to suspect it of being more like
propaganda in most cases than actual [...]

Evil Cats

October 20th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, there’s this website I was made aware of on Vicki’s weblog (which I don’t
have a link to on my site, but it’s not entirely public, it seems) called Rate My Kitten that shows you pictures
of cats in a style similar to ‘AmIhotornot’. I took a quick look through
their Top 10, and thought I could [...]

Beef from Space

October 18th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

My good friend Mark Demeny sent me this picture about a year and a half ago,
then forgot, and re-sent it to me. Which is cool, because I’d lost it. I
think it’s pretty great and I’m glad to get a second chance to post it. This
is Bert, the first Nasa Bovinaut, in an image [...]

My Thanksgiving Vacation

October 17th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I apologise for taking so long to update my site, I was just really eager to
get an image prepped for the site and kept leaving it at work. So, without
further adieu, tada, the coolest image of Jay ever taken, screwed up by a bad
disposable camera, and then corrected as much as possible in Photoshop:

That’s right, [...]

Feeling much better

October 11th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, the nosebleed and horrible breathing problems were probably more related
to my ear infection that was developing, unbeknownst to me, when I’d written
that last post.

However, good news. I’m off to Moose Jaw soon to visit my aunt and uncle and
godchildren, and I’m eager to leave the office and eat turkey. Mmmmmmm.
