I watched 10,000 BC last night and enjoyed the visual aspects of the film – lots of neat scenery and the action sequences were interesting. The film dragged for quite a while as the main character wandered across the desert (a metaphor for the plot?) and it was silly in a lot of places, but there were plenty of really cool mastadons and an exceptionally awesome sabretoothed cat that didn’t get nearly enough screen time.

I don’t think a little dirt ever hurt a cavegirl. I found the love interest distractingly polished for a prehistoric mountain-dweller, I was half expecting her to come wandering out midway through the film in her Brigitte Bardot fur bikini and Wilma Flintstone heels. After being tied to a horse and dragged through a swamp full of man-eaters and an impassable desert, you’d think she’d find enough of the savage spirit in herself to stop fixing her hair and maybe tear off her captors’ arms and beat them to death with them.
