EVERYTHING MUST GO! 100% MARKDOWN!!! I’D SELL YOU MY SHIRT BUT I JUST GAVE IT AWAY!

Okay, no, I’m not opening up a furniture store, BUT – we live in a pretty big building and near to the end of every month (moving day!) a bunch of discarded furniture always piles up in the parking garage at our apartment for freecycling. Usually it’s in pretty good shape, too – definitely good enough for a student dorm or rec room and sometimes it looks suspiciously new. It generally gets picked over pretty soon afterwards, but it always breaks my heart to see good furniture going into the garbage trucks when they’re not taken.

It would be easy for me to keep an eye out if anyone wants something in particular. Send me a note if you or someone you know is looking for chairs, tables, end tables, couches, lamps, desk chairs or cabinets… even televisions. One is bound to turn up shortly. I can send you a picture of whatever shows up and if you’re interested, I can move a lot of the smaller stuff over to your place, or I can try to chalk mark “MINE!” onto bigger stuff for you to come pick up later with a truck.

As a side note – this is a super fantastic resource for anyone who likes refinishing furniture. Some of the stuff the old ladies are dropping off is coming straight out of the 1940s.
