The “Charity of the Month” at work is Canines with a Cause, a group that train and match assistance dogs with people who have limited mobility. Today, Miriam, Tom, Doris, and a guest puppy raiser from CWAC stopped by with some of their dogs in training to do a demonstration and talk about the work that their organization is doing.

The dogs they’re raising are really amazing – even these dogs who haven’t quite graduated yet had no trouble fetching dropped keys and coins, barking for help, carrying baskets and blankets back and forth, pulling on and off clothes, even activating a medical alarm – a really tremendous display of intelligence and obedience. I was really impressed with their work they’re doing and hope they find great matches for all of these incredible dogs. Even as puppies in training, some of them have already saved lives.

It was like a room full of littlest hobos. Luckily none of the dogs know Photoshop yet – my job is still safe.
