Canary Melon

July 27th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Review

Natasha resolved last week to try a fruit she’s never had before, so while we were out at Produce Depot I took a stroll down the “weird fruit” aisle. I passed over the Red Bananas and Casabas and went straight for the Canary Melons, which are nearly fluorescent yellow when ripeĀ  and looked exciting.

Not really [...]

100 Random Comics

July 24th, 2009 · No Comments · Observations, Ottawa

John, Ron and I ditched our wives the other night and went out to celebrate pre Comic-Con nerdiness at the Comic Book Shoppe. It’s been a while since I’ve really had the time to peruse around the store and get a sense of what’s new. It doesn’t seem to matter to Natasha that I’ll follow [...]

Helmet Head

July 22nd, 2009 · 1 Comment · Observations

Some mornings I put my bike helmet on a little earlier than I need to as I’m getting ready to leave the apartment. It’s probably only about two inches thick at it’s widest, but once it’s on I somehow can’t seem to help but bump into things. It’s made me very aware that I am [...]

The weather put a quick end to the day, though. After just 3 [...]

King Mountain Hike

July 17th, 2009 · No Comments · Ottawa

My motivation to go hiking every weekend’s been a little diminished by bad weather and scheduling difficulties. Finally getting a break and looking for a good hiking spot the other day, John and Jen suggested we take a walk up King Mountain, one of the trails up around Champlain Lookout that doesn’t get as much [...]

I Would Walk Five Hundred Miles…

July 2nd, 2009 · No Comments · Observations

Our walking challenge at work is over! Collectively we’ve walked about twice the distance between Ottawa and Easter Island, where our mascots the Maori stone (bit)heads come from. I personally put in 1,500,000 steps over about 100 days, putting me in around 15,000 a day on average. It would have been higher except for a [...]
