Happy camper?

November 14th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

It’s COLD in Winnipeg! -20 degrees celcius and dropping. BRRR! I took a
picture of myself on the way to work this morning, so I could share my misery
with you all!

Beleive it or not, I’m trying to smile in this picture.

Chaos and Destruction

November 12th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So I’ve been on a one-man wrecking spree the past few days.

I was microwaving a late-night snack in the office the other night when I was
called away to check on a network render that was failing, and when I got
back my co-workers were in a panic around the smoking remains of my bagel. I
spent a [...]

Flagrant Copyright Infringement

November 12th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, if I just happened to rest some magazines on my flatbed scanner, and lean
on the scan button like -so-… and then somehow articles about The Core FTP
themselves up to my site… is it my fault? Can I be held responsible for
such an unlikely and convenient string of events? Oh, hey, look. There’s
articles scanned out [...]

Not enough pictures

November 10th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, I’m tearing my site all apart and re-building it on a new webserver in
the next few days, and I’ve been putting quite a bit of thought into what I
want this site to be, and where I want to go with it.

I’m open to some suggestions… to be honest I still haven’t decided what I
want [...]

A little Zen humour

November 7th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, there was a very dark and moody Zen Calendar haiku tidbit the other day,
that goes like this:

Vast solitude
My thinning body
transparent autumn

The funny (???) thing about it is that to this day, looking at it sitting in
my pile of discarded calendar days, I still misread the last line
as “Transparent ALUMINUM.

This sends me into spasms of [...]

Hinode Taiko

November 3rd, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, I saw another Taiko Concert in Winnipeg this evening, one I’d been
waiting to see for quite a while. There were some fantastic performances,
especially by San Jose Taiko and Soh Daiko from
New York.

I don’t think I can get enough of it. It’s too much fun. I have to make a
movie with an entirely Taiko soundtrack. [...]

SWEET! DUDE!

November 1st, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

A minor miracle happened today. After months of searching and eventually
givng up, convinced I’d left my digital camera on an airplane in Vancouver…
I opened my closet today to find my digital camera, staring up at me on a
large patch of bare carpet, as though it has always been there. I can only
assume it fell out [...]

Really really beautiful

October 28th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

All night there have been big huge flakes of snow falling from low clouds,
blanketing the city. I have all the lights off in my apartment, and the glow
of the city reflecting through the clouds is bright enough to nearly read by.
Individual flakes pass by my window like a rain of pink embers from the sky.
I [...]

My little pet peeve

October 27th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I can’t -STAND- it when people skew, distort,
pinch, twist, and mutilate their images accidentally in their scanners and
post them up without correcting them. I remember seeing Tron at my aunt’s
house for the very first time, many years ago, on her broken TV, and thinking
that all the people in Tron world had heads that bent at [...]

Taiko!

October 26th, 2002 · No Comments · Uncategorized

So, I just finished my first ever Taiko workshop and am now officially a
Taiko drummer, as evidenced by the beautiful blood-blisters on both hands.

Imagine this is me.

So, I got pretty crazy out there, whacked big sticks on a big drum,
shouted “HAI!” lots and had a fantastic time. I’d recommend the experience to
anyone. I’m [...]
