Technical Director
I have a real knack for solving art problems with computers, so early in my career I found a natural home working as a VFX TD. A “technical director” invents new effects, solves tricky graphics problems, and works with everyone in the production (director, actors, vfx supervisors and animators) to make sure a shot comes together. A lot of the projects we’d bid on had never been done before, so we developed a reputation for taking on crazy projects. 🙂 We were responsible for the first fluid simulated character on film (Scooby Doo’s Tar Monster), refracting crystals and growing kryptonite on the Core and Superman Returns, and flipping a cruise-liner over in Poseidon.
