Technical Director

I have a real knack for solving art problems with computers, so early in my career I found a natural home working as a VFX TD. A “technical director” invents new effects, solves tricky graphics problems, and works with everyone in the production (director, actors, vfx supervisors and animators) to make sure a shot comes together. A lot of the projects we’d bid on had never been done before, so we developed a reputation for taking on crazy projects. 🙂 We were responsible for the first fluid simulated character on film (Scooby Doo’s Tar Monster), refracting crystals and growing kryptonite on the Core and Superman Returns, and flipping a cruise-liner over in Poseidon.

I worked on 28 films, 12 commercials and 4 music videos in five years – a pretty intense pace. 🙂 Here’s a few highlights:

  • Alien Resurrection Director’s Cut
  • The Big Empty
  • Catwoman
  • Chumscrubber
  • The Core
  • Cursed
  • East of Euclid
  • Hangman’s Curse
  • Idlewild
  • Niagara Hotel
  • Paycheck
  • Poseidon (Nominated for an Academy Award for VFX)
  • The Ring II
  • Scary Movie II
  • Scooby Doo 2
  • Star Wars II & III
  • Stay
  • Superman Returns (Nominated for an Academy Award for VFX)
  • Taxi
  • The Italian Job
  • The Matrix II&III
  • X-Men 2

I was good enough at my job to stand out. 🙂
My work on films and TV shows has earned me 2 Academy Award nominations, 14 Geminis, 3 Blizzard awards, and 40 more independent film and advertising awards.
